Mission and Principles

Gay dads are an amazing breed. With no blueprint to fall back on, we forged our own paths to fatherhood, building families that are all the more beautiful for their differences.
We built Gaddies to celebrate gay dads, helping them thrive by connecting them to community and a well-deserved sense of pride and belonging.
The way we see it, gaddies should be free to parent with:
VISIBILITY
Because gay dads exist! And always have! We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re looking for a place to change our kid’s diaper.

EQUALITY
Because gay or straight, a dad is a dad. All parents want to create loving families to nurture the growth of their kids, and gaddies are no different. In every way, we are valid parents–snot-wiping, tampon-buying, forehead-kissing parents.
COMMUNITY
Because we’re better together. Finding community with families who get us–who share the same joys and struggles–makes us all stronger, less isolated, and, frankly, more fabulous.

VERSATILITY
Because we wear many different hats. As gaddies, we’ve landed all the roles, from nurturer to rule enforcer, homework checker to hairstylist. With gendered parenting norms out of the equation, flexibility is both our M.O. and our superpower.
AUTHENTICITY
Because we deserve to live and parent as our whole selves. From the bake sale to the dance floor, we proudly bring the entirety of who we are to the table. Because nobody puts gaddy in the closet.

In a world where being a gay dad was once unthinkable, we honor those who fought so that we may love and parent freely. We commit to carrying this fight forward by donating a portion of our profits to organizations that support and empower LGBTQ+ families.
